New Red Heart Colors

Just arrived – two new Red Heart variegated yarn colors My shipment of Red Heart yarns came with two new colors … Sea grass -variegated blue, green, yellow and tan and Primary -variegated red, blue, green, gold and purple. They are both great colors.

Yes. It is finally here. The book we have all been waiting for. Now we have lots of options on how to finish off our Swedish Weaving/ Huck Embroidery projects. The How to Book of Hemstitching and Edging is for sale at http://averyhill.com On the front cover of the new book there is a picture of a couch throw called Cranberry Patch. After I stitched Cranberry Patch, I finished off the ends with the “Basic Square Stitch” on page 20. This stitch is also known as the Box Stitch and the Italian Hem Stitch.

New Color Monk’s cloth

We just received a shipment of a new color of monk’s cloth. The manufacturer calls it “Denim”. It is very similar in color to Red Heart’s Colonial Blue yarn. I carried the swatch around our yarn and thought these Coats and Clark yarns would match great. Red Heart: Sierra, Painted Desert Print, Artist Print, Williamsburg Print, Bay Print, Wedgewood, Country Blues. TLC: Serene, Country Club. I bet some of you will come up with other great combinations.

Back from the trade shows

Well, we are back from three trade shows in one month, the TNNA Show in San Diego, the CHA show in Anaheimand the Nashville TNNA Cash and Carry Show in TN. When there was an opportunity to leave my booth, I found some great fibers to use in kits. The new silk, hemp, metallics and rayons will be fun to work with. I can’t wait.

At the shows, I introduced my new book and had a great response. The new book is titled “The How to Book of Hemstitching and Edging.” It was intended as a Swedish Weaving book, but I soon I realized it was for anyone who would like to put that extra special touch into their needle art projects.

With that in mind there are pictures of many different projects including, a couch throw with Swedish Weaving, a huck embroidered hand towel, a silk ribbon embroidered project, a quilted purse, a leather bag, a wool purse and an inkle loom sash. There are two project patterns in the book, one for the quilted purse and one for the wool purse. Cordage, fringe and beaded edgings are also covered in the book.

Each stitch is color charted with the right hand and left hand version. The book will be available at the end of March 2009.

We have a block of rooms set aside at the adjoining Hilton Garden Inn. The Hilton is giving us a special discount for our convention. The Hilton Garden Inn is a beautiful hotel. The cost is $106 per night, double occupancy (single, three and four person rooms are also available) The elevator brings you from your room to the convention level, so there are no stairs to climb.

Breakfast at the Hilton restaurant is included with the room.

Classes: In the seven classes you will have the opportunity to use huck, waffle cloth and monk’s cloth in seven different projects.

Small item swap: Bring a small finished Swedish weave project to swap, such as, a table runner, a pillow, a set of placemats, etc.

Frog Exchange: Have you ever had a mistake and needed to ribbit, ribbit, rip it out? Frogs have become the mascot of stitchers. Bring a small frog item to exchange. Please keep the cost down to $5 dollars.

Meals: Breakfast comes with the Hilton Inn rooms. You will be given tickets at check-in. Lunch and supper are on your own, except for the last night’s banquet. Besides the restaurant at the convention center there are many lovely restaurants close by for you to choose from.

Banquet: On our last night we have a special banquet planned right at the convention center.

Convention Store: You will find lots of monk’s cloth, yarn, needles, books, huck toweling, huck fabric, huck cloth, waffle cloth and kits and more.

We have activities planned for your non-weaving adult traveling companions on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. For these activities, any costs, including travel, will be their responsibility.

Sale At Herrschner’s

My Herrschner’s order that had been backordered for a month just arrived. The blue Christmas yarn, called Holidays Snow and Ice, looks great! The yarn even has a silver metallic thread, which most manufactures do not to add anymore because of the price. It will be gorgeous on white or natural monk’s cloth. I bought the Christmas yarn pack for $12.99 plus shipping. There are 10 balls in the pack, 4 light, 4 medium and 2 dark. The yarn has a weight of 4. Each ball is 1.75 ounces, which makes a total of 17.5 ounces. We usually use 12 – 18 ounces for a couch throw, so there should be plenty. I am thinking of making the pointsettia couch throw from book 4, Simply Swedish Weaving.
